I had every intention of getting on trail when I woke up this morning. I slept great in the bunkhouse and planned to only do 10ish miles since I want to meet my parents in Damascus on Friday. I piddled around this morning and was ready to go by noon, but the radar looked terrifying. It didn’t take much to convince me to book a tent site for the night (everything else was full). Once soaking wet hikers started rolling in I knew I made the right decision. The nice thing about a kind of unexpected zero is that it gave my friends time to catch up!

Creature and Dumb Horse rolled in all drenched and quickly decided to tent as well. Not long after that Rat King and Butter showed up so it’s a party! We all pretty much just sat around all day; I did an obnoxious Instagram story to “answer questions about my hike” to help entertain myself and I read in my tent for a while. I really enjoyed talking with Bullet today, and I feel so much better knowing I’ll hike to Damascus with my friends. There is a bunch of norovirus going around so I’m trying to be hygienic. Excited for another zero in Damascus and to see my family and dogs!
