AT Day 51

Partnership Shelter – Hurricane Mountain Shelter

Today was a great day!! I needed it after the past two shitty days. I got up and moving around 7:30am and really enjoyed a chill morning. I stopped for a nice break with Bobcat at the Rye Valley View. Getting to see all my NoBo friends has been so nice.

Snack with a view of Rye Valley

I had lunch with a bunch of friends and it was may been my favorite lunch yet. I got to eat with Butter, Rat King, the newly names “Stoney Balognie Boys” (Manners, Anchor Man, and Bathtub). We laughed a lot and it got me super psyched for trail days! The terrain today was pretty management, it was definitely easier in the morning though. After lunch, I think I was just ready to get to the shelter. I ran into Hook, Tinder, Saint, Gumby, and Ripper which was nice.

The trail goes through LOTS of active cow pastures in northern VA

I spent most of the afternoon daydreaming about making a Tinder profile just to try and get a hitch after Damascus. The last mile kicked my butt, but crushing 19 felt good! It’s like a reunion at the shelter tonight – Bug Bite and Wilson are here! Still with Lady Bug, Oats, Good jobs, and Rat King. We are o excited to get to Grayson Highlands tomorrow… PONIES! I feel so much better, today compared to yesterday – hoping morale stays high on the other side of Trail Days.
