Landenburg, PA – Pine Grove Furnace
Such a great day – I didn’t hike but my heart is so full. The morning started at Botany’s with everyone pitching in to clean up from the night before. Botany’s parents made us coffee and breakfast (Show Pony made mimosas) and everyone spent the morning just hanging out.
Bathtub, Manners, Anchor man, and Tangled all got off trail close to us, so DQ and I gave them a ride in our Uhaul van back to the trail. I rode in the back the 2nd half and it was hot and miserable… but we made it!

Once we dropped them off, DQ and I had to gas up the van and return it. $200 later (which we split) we were once again without transportation. I don’t regret our expensive adventure because it was so good to see my friends and it was a great memory.
We walked through Gettysburg trying to hitch before meeting a section hiker who offered to drive us the entire 45-minute journey (with his adorable old dad who had Dementia) to Pine Grove Furnace so we could link back up with our friends.
Once at Pine Grove, I tackled the infamous half-gallon challenge. I ate the entire thing in 43 minutes and didn’t puke – totally worth my wooden spoon.

I ran into Shep, a trail angel I met at Boots Off Hostel in TN, and he offered to feed us and to stay at his campsite. Cardinal, Wildcat, and Munchie went with me and we hung out with Shep, his wife, No Miles, and their kids all evening. They are trail missionaries a made me feel God’s love. Great day and night!
