RPH Shelter – Pawling, NY
***I didn’t take any pictures on this day, so these photos are from other days on my hike***
Today was a wet and uninspiring day. It rained overnight and we woke up wet, but thankfully the shelter had a large awning and we were able to eat and stay dry before heading out into the rain. I left first and hiked alone most of the morning.
Apparently, there was a deli off trail that I intentionally missed. I’m trying really hard to save money since funds are getting low and not eat out, especially if I have food in my pack that I’ve already bought. So I forewent the deli while all my friends went and I continued alone in the rain.
The nice thing is that since I once again have a working phone I was able to listen to music between rain showers. I got to a shelter as the rain stopped and waited for my friends while catching up with Bathtub. When everyone arrived we dilly-dallied for a while before we decided we didn’t want to push super far and that we’d just go into town at the first road crossing.

Truffles drank a Red Line and got super messed up; he and I hiked very slowly but laughed a lot. I was able to get a hitch from the 1st car that passed (score) and we all went to the pavilion in town for free camping. We went to O’Connors Pub in town for dinner and Sticks introduced us to Guinness and Chambord which changed our lives. Excited or NYC tomorrow!
