August 13, 2021 (5 miles)
Osgood Campsite – Gorham, NH
***I didn’t take any pictures on this day, so these photos are from other days on my hike***
Today was a super chill day. We “slept in” until 7am or so, everyone was killed from the day before. Thankfully we only had a few easy miles before arriving in town. Hangman, Truffles, and I all hiked tougher and were able to get up and over the one hill of the day fairly easily before beginning the gradual descent to the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. Pimento caught up and we all carried on.
Once at the Visitor Center, we tried to get a hitch; it’s hard for 5 people to get a ride (Sticks and Slobber bailed off Mount Washington the day before and were already in town). Thankfully someone pulled over and offered to give 3 of us a ride, so the boys hopped in and Truffles and I were able to get a ride super quickly once it was just the 2 of us.

Once we were in town we went to The Barn hostel and met Paul, the caretaker. We quickly set up our tents in the yard and ventured out for all you can eat Chinese which was delicious! Once we were full we resupplied at Dollar General and went back to the hostel for showers and loaner clothes.
After town chores were done we all hung out in the hostel (complete with cute string lights and a deer head) and watched the Princess Bride and Monty Python. Truffles and I went for an ice cream date and walked around town chatting.
Once we got back to the hostel our crew devised a new plan for the next few days. Instead of going over the difficult 21 miles Wildcats in 2 days, we’re going to slack pack them in 1 day… big day tomorrow!
