Bald Mountain Pond Shelter – Shaw’s Hostel
Today was a fine day. We woke up early in hopes of making it into town at a decent time. It’s been cool the past few nights (in the 50s) so that has made breaking down camp even more of a chore. It also was crazy windy last night thanks to a brief thunderstorm, and being on the lake was pretty but made it extra cold.
We left camp by 7:30am and began the easy 15 miles into town. I can never keep up with the boys even when the terrain is flat, so sometimes they put me in front. I prefer to be in the back so I can go at my own pace or to hike in front of Truffles, but it was kind of fun when we got our hiker conga line going.

Nothing was very eventful in today’s hike. We ran into a few people, all of which were heading to Shaw’s. We did happen upon trail magic set out specifically for the Dirty Bubble, but we stole a couple of sodas and sandwiches and were on our way.

We made it to the road to walk into town by 1pm and were at the hostel in no time. There is a ton of people here, but thankfully the 5 of us were able to score a private room so we don’t have to worry about socializing with everyone (unless we want to).
We walked into town and had a super yummy meal before hitting the gas station for beers and pizza. We made our way back to the hostel and have been doing absolutely nothing. Last zero tomorrow!
