AT Day 14

Winding Stair Gap – Siler Bald Shelter

***I didn’t take any photos on 4/4/21, so these photos are from different dates***

Morale was low today. It’s hard to get back on trail after a nice homey nero, this was the first time I’ve questioned whether or not I want to be out here. The answer is obviously still yes, today was just hard.

We slept in and Ranger made us breakfast while we lounged about. It was so nice to have coffee! We made a resupply plan and hit Walmart before getting back on trail around 3pm. I don’t know what’s going on, but my calves have been KILLING me the past couple days when going uphill, so the climb out of the gap hurt. I took it super slow and took lots of breaks to try and stretch. I’m hoping the pain is just from not stretching in the cold and not my shoes… we shall see.

Ranger and I both had our packs stuffed fulled at the beginning of trail 3/26/21

The shelter is popping today with the 8 Train and crew, I’m feeling very antisocial and missing our tramily. I am a little concerned about when Kayla and I split just because I don’t want to interact with all the other hikers. They are loud, young, and all smoke. I feel a little out of place but I can have off days.

The Potters and Party Dave are catching up tomorrow so I think I’ll be in a better place mentally tomorrow. I’m excited to take some time off at home and get my 2nd vaccine. Hoping for better vibes tomorrow! Thankful it’ll be warmer tonight.
