AT Day 15

April 5, 2021 (6.8 miles)

Siler Bald Shelter – Wayah Bald Shelter

Today was a LOT of climbing. It was hard but honestly was a great day. We started with a climb to Siler Bald and took our packs off to get to the top.

The 3 Asheville gals, Road Soda, and Hybrid (new friend named Nathan) enjoyed the views before getting trail magic from Lucky Moon! She made us hot chocolate and had brownies.

The climb up Way Bald SUCKED, it took me forever, but I talked to an older fella named Scout Master who was slackpacking and hauling balls. We chatted on the flat/descents, but he cruised by me once it turned uphill again.

Getting to Wayah Bald was awesome! The views were incredible and all my friends were together. We ate lunch and hung out around the tower for hours before heading down to the shelter.

Tonight has been my favorite night at camp, the people were cool and we had lots of fun conversations. I talked to Butter, Lyla, and Bowie before Party Dave, Chris, Drew and Erika joined us. I met Gang Signs, who is freaking hilarious, and we all just hung out before a pre-bedtime stretch session.

It was in the 60s today and perfect hiking weather, I wish every day could be this nice. It was a hard but short day, tomorrow will be longer but hopefully just as fun.
