Rock Springs Hut – Stealth Spot
Today was a good day. It was beautiful out, the terrain was easy, and I got to see a lot of friends! I was out early in order to hike the 5 miles to the wayside (Skyland) before they stopped serving breakfast at 9:30am. Since it’s Sunday and the mornings are so peaceful I decided to get my worship on as I hiked and talked to God a lot.

Once at Skyland I ate with Bodega, Botany, and Mud Duck. We were very out of place with all the resort guests but had lots of laughs at ate tons of yummy (and expensive) food. After breakfast, I wasn’t sure what my plan was so the guys hiked on while I called Dad. The mileage today was weird because the only shelters were 15 miles or 28 miles… So I just decided to hike and see what happened.
I FINALLY got some trail magic at a picnic area; Old Yeller’s parents had muffins and Coke and I sat and enjoyed their camp chairs for almost an hour with Sherlock and Superman.
Nothing exceptional stands out from today’s hike other than all the damn day hikers. I like when they stop and ask about my thru because it makes me feel like a celebrity, but most of the time I want them to get out of my way.
I got to the 15 miles shelter after lots of lollygagging at 4:30pm and decided to push on. This meant I’d heave to camel up and stealth alone… I found a neat little spot and feel great about sleeping alone. Hopefully, this stealth experience is better than my last.
